FIRM:  Richard H. Garvin, with RJ’s Auction Service, is engaged in the business of auctions and personal property appraisals on a full-time basis. Auctioneer’s fields of expertise are residential contents including antiques, coins and currency, residential real estate, and vehicles.  Auctioneer also has extensive knowledge of business and inventory liquidation. RJ’s Auction Service is a twenty-year-old business that conducts more than forty auctions annually. RJ’s Auction Service is a full service auction firm which can handle the following: (1) all services that may be needed including appraisal of personal property for estate functions (Kansas and Federal tax liabilities, equitable distribution, or market value), (2) appraising business assets and inventories, (3) selling personal property or business assets and inventories, and (4) selling real estate using either the auction method or the conventional method of marketing.

·         Graduated Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas in May of 1984

·         Graduated Missouri School of Auctioneering in June of 1993

·         Awarded the CAI designation by the Auction Marketing Institute in April of 2000

·         Awarded the GPPA designation by the Auction Marketing Institute in June of 2000

·         Awarded the CES designation by the Auction Marketing Institute in July of 2003

·         Awarded the ATS designation by the National Auctioneers Association in October of 2008

BUSINESS HISTORY: 1993-Present: Manager and senior auctioneer for RJ’s Auction Service. 1988-Present: An adviser to RJ’s Discount Sales, a salvage and surplus business representing many of the major nationwide department store chains.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: RJ’s Auction Service maintains a research library and subscribes to numerous antique and collectible publications.  In January of 2013, Richard was elected President of the Kansas Auctioneers Association (KAA).  Richard attends national and state conventions, trade shows, and seminars held by these professional associations, of which he is a member in good standing.
